A Beach-Ready Body

Dr Joseph Rizk has performed numerous Fat Transfer to the Buttocks procedures over the years. Whether it’s after pregnancy, weight loss, or just to augment your exercise results, a Fat Transfer to the Buttocks in Sydney with Dr Rizk could be the answer you’re looking for.

What is a Fat Transfer to the Buttocks?

Also known as “gluteal augmentation” or “fat transfer to the buttocks” surgery, a Fat Transfer to the Buttocks is a surgical procedure that transfers fat from one place on the patient’s body to their buttocks.

The donor fat is harvested using liposuction, usually from other places with excess fat like the abdomen, hips, or legs. Additional liposuction may be performed around the buttocks to ensure a well-balanced overall shape.

Other forms of gluteal augmentation can incorporate medical-grade implants, but those run the risk of rejection. By using the patient’s own fat, the Fat Transfer to the Buttocks avoids such risks while delivering natural-looking results.

Benefits of a Fat Transfer to the Buttocks

Fat Transfer to the Buttocks procedures are very popular and are generally considered to have a lower risk of complications than other forms of gluteal augmentation.

Because the surgery is less invasive than some other procedures, there is also usually a shorter recovery period before you can fully enjoy your results. Also, it can lead to more natural-looking results because it uses your own tissue rather than implants. In addition to filling out the buttocks, a Fat Transfer to the Buttocks has the added benefit of slimming down the donor area. The result is a proportional, shapely form that’s about more than just your butt.

Am I a candidate for a Fat Transfer to the Buttocks?

People often seek out a Fat Transfer to the Buttocks when they:

  • Feel their buttocks has lost their shape
  • See loose or sagging skin on their rear end
  • Notice their buttocks is disproportional or imbalanced
  • Have a hard time fitting into clothes because of any of these factors

While the needs of each patient are unique, good candidates for Fat Transfer to the Buttocks procedures generally have a few things in common. They will be in good overall health and free of any serious medical conditions or diseases, like diabetes, heart disease, or cancer. Being a non-smoker is a plus, as is having good overall skin condition and elasticity.

In addition to the physical characteristics, the best surgery candidates are also in a good state of mind. They understand the Fat Transfer to the Buttocks procedure well, are well aware of the potential risks, and have realistic expectations for their results. They know that no cosmetic surgery will “fix” any self-esteem issues they have. Dr Rizk also recommends that you seek out a second opinion from another qualified healthcare provider. In following the National Law and Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) guidelines, he knows it’s important to acknowledge that any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks, so a second opinion is always advised before proceeding with any cosmetic surgery.

Fat Transfer to the Buttocks
Procedure

At Rizk Plastic Surgery in Sydney Fat Transfer to the Buttocks surgery is performed under anesthesia (general or regional, depending on the extent of your operation) and usually as an outpatient procedure, meaning you’ll probably be able to go home on the same day.

Dr Rizk will begin by making small incisions around the donor sites to liposuction the fat for the transfer. He will use a small tube (called a “cannula”) and a suction machine to remove the fat from the donor areas. This fat is then processed and purified to make it ready to be transferred. Next, Dr Rizk makes small incisions in various places around the buttocks and injects the transferred fat.

He will use multiple injection sites to ensure the even distribution of the fat and a natural, and full shape to the buttocks. Finally, Dr Rizk will close the liposuction and injection incisions with sutures or skin adhesive as appropriate. He will dress the wounds with bandages and in some cases apply a compression band or garment to minimize swelling and fluid retention.

What to expect from Fat Transfer to the Buttocks recovery

The first few days are usually the most difficult as you can expect significant swelling, bruising, and tenderness around your buttocks and liposuction sites for several weeks. While this will probably make walking, standing, and even sitting uncomfortable, the pain is generally manageable with the pain medication Dr Rizk will prescribe. He may also prescribe anti-inflammatory or antibiotic medicine. You will need to avoid sitting or sleeping on your buttocks for several weeks until the tenderness has subsided and the incision sites have healed. Make sure to follow the aftercare instructions Dr Rizk gives you to ensure a speedy recovery and optimal results.

Your Fat Transfer to the Buttocks results

After the swelling and discoloration have subsided, you will be able to fully enjoy your results. You can generally expect your optimal results to be long-lasting, but that will depend on how well you keep up your balanced diet and regular exercise. While liposuction removes existing fat, it cannot prevent new fat from forming, so maintaining your beach-ready body for the long term will be up to you!
